shirleyShirley Percival

Wise Owl Learning was founded in 2012 by Shirley Percival. Shirley has been involved in education for over 25 years as a university lecturer and private tutor. She has two grown up boys, two dogs and has lived in the Basingstoke area for 20 years.

Shirley is passionate about education and has a BSc Hons in Science and Technology, a MSc in Science, Technology & DNA Profiling and studied for a D Phil, specialising in Forensic Science and Criminal Technologies.

Winnie Tang

Winnie studied for a BSc and Masters in Chemistry at the University of Surrey where she also obtained a PhD in Electronic Engineering. During her PhD studies she taught, demonstrated and supervised undergraduate students in various modules within Chemistry..

Winnie has worked academically with children and young people of a variety of ages and abilities on a voluntary basis, including those with learning difficulties.

Winnie currently lives with her partner in Church Crookham and their dog Nala, a German Shorthaired Pointer.

Jonny Treston

Jonny is a talented mathematician with a passion for sciences. He has joined us at Wise Owl, in order to expand our mathematics and science capability at GCSE and A level; he has a natural ability to explain higher level maths and sciences in a way that boosts confidence in the most hesitant students!  Fluent in German, Jonny is an outdoors enthusiast, expert skier, mountaineer, and enjoys cycling and many other sports. He will be a tremendous member of our team!

Chloe Bourner

Chloe is a fluent French speaker, having spent some of her childhood living in Normandy. Her love of the language led her to study for a BA (Hons) in French at the University of Warwick. During her degree Chloe was lucky enough to spend more time in Normandy, academically teaching English from ages 11-23 and immersing herself in French life and culture. Chloe offers French tuition at all levels, and English support up to GCSE level.

Chloe currently lives in her family home in Romsey with her dog Monty, where they both enjoy all the beautiful walks nearby.

Annie Saba                                     

Annie graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology from the University of Surrey, and has worked as an Assistant Psychologist within NHS mental health services. A keen swimmer, hiker and pianist, Annie also has a love of reading and enjoyed English literature at A level. Annie also enjoys travelling and has visited the U.S. and Mexico, where she worked as a volunteer helping local families. Annie is fully DBS checked.

Annie will initially be offering GCSE tuition in psychology, English language and literature, and religious studies.

Alex Millard

Alex is a Biological Sciences graduate with a keen interest in Ecology and Science Communication. Completing her Biology degree at the University of East Anglia, Alex has studied the topic in depth; including cancer, cell biology, plant biology, anatomy, immunology, evolutionary biology and more. Alex will be offering tuition in triple sciences up to GCSE and Biology A level.

Alex currently lives in her first home with her partner (hoping to get a furry friend to join them soon !). She is also part of a local dance company, weekly Film and monthly Book Club.

Lucy Stothard

Lucy read for her BA (Hons) in English and History at the University of Sheffield, before going on to gain her Master’s in English in 2017. In 2018 she undertook the Cambridge CELTA with International House in Barcelona, completing the course with the rarely-awarded ‘Pass A’. Since then she has taught English to speakers of other languages in Spain, Germany, and the UK, to students from ages 10 to 70 and of all different nationalities.

Lucy currently offers specialist tuition in both IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation (FCE, CAE and CPE), as well as business and general English. Her gentle, patient approach, and ability to explain grammar clearly are always appreciated by her students.
